In a bid to promote organ donation, the Maharashtra government is considering to formulate a law which would make it mandatory for private hospitals to provide lifetime medical assistance to the donor’s family.

Around 2,000 personnel of the country’s two largest paramilitary forces – BSF and CRPF pledged to donate their organs in order to mark the National Organ Donation Day.

Power, Coal and Mines Minister Piyush Goyal and his family have pledged to donate organs. Health Minister JP Nadda congratulated him and hoped that this will motivate the masses.
