The Health Minister’s tweet was retweeted by Goyal. To mark the National Organ Donation Day today, BSF and CRPF personnel also pledged to donate their organs. The government is taking various steps to simplify organ donation rules and procedures.

Besides, the Health Ministry has launched the National Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplant Registry. According to government data, India needs around 2 lakh kidney donations every year. But only 7,000-8,000 requirements are met.
Over 2.5 lakh people in the country require organ transplantation in a year, but less than 10% get timely help.
