Bhopal: In a first, a green corridor was created in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh’s capital, on Friday to transport a donated liver from the airport to hospital within 13 minutes.
The 13-km-long green corridor was created between the airport and Red Cross Hospital here, Additional Superintendent of Police (Transport) Sameer Yadav told IANS.
“The liver of Sunil, 42, who was declared brain dead by doctors at a hospital in Indore, was transported to Bhopal on a special charted plane around 7.30 a.m.,” Yadav said.
“Around 120 police personnel were on duty to oversee the transportation of the liver through the corridor. It’s for the first time that a liver transplantation has taken place in Madhya Pradesh,” he added.
According to sources, Sunil’s liver will be transplanted on a woman admitted in a private hospital in Bhopal.
