Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that the civic body deployed four snorkels to rescue passengers stuck inside a halted Monorail in Chembur. He said that amid rains, the Central Railway's Harbour line was closed and passengers were diverted to the Monorail. This led to crowding beyond capacity, causing the carriages to tilt and a subsequent breakdown. Mr Shinde said that the priority is to rescue all passengers and provide medical attention, where required.
