One passenger on Air India flight 171 walked away as the sole survivor, after the aircraft crashed in Ahmedabad earlier this week, in what was one of the worst air disasters in India in recent times.

While Indian-origin British national Vishwash Kumar Ramesh was seated on 11A in the Boeing Dreamliner aircraft. While his survival was no less than a miracle, his seat, near the emergency exit, has prompted speculation over its safety. It has also led to questions on whether there are any safe seats in an aircraft.
