Gopalapuram Police have arrested 25 people, including doctors, clinic staff, agents, and birth parents, for running an illegal surrogacy and child trafficking network. The case began on 27 July 2025 with a couple defrauded via fake surrogacy, later expanding to eight more FIRs involving cheating, DNA mismatches, and baby procurement from vulnerable mothers. Victims paid . 11–40 lakh per case, while agents were paid . 3.5 lakh for girls and . 4.5 lakh for boys.
