Gaurav Gogoi, who has been recently appointed the head of the Assam Congress unit, launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Mr Gogoi claimed that the smear campaign against his family is a deliberate attempt to divert attention from the corruption done by Mr Sarma's family. Mr Gogoi alleged that 17 companies linked to Mr Sarma's family are receiving a majority of government contracts, and that the family has illegally amassed large amounts of property across Assam.
