Over the next few months, over 50 developers in Greater Noida West or Greater Noida Extension as it is popularly known will be completing their projects. Thousands of people will be moving into the region, ready to enjoy their dream homes. But poor infrastructure could see this dream turn into a nightmare. Here are 5 reasons why Greater Noida West may be unlivable for the foreseeable future.

1) There Is No Basic Infrastructure

Imagine power cuts that last 13 hours or more. Locals living in Greater Noida West say it is a frequent problem because local authorities have not installed sub-power stations in the area. Sewage treatment plants are missing; even the street lights are non-operational, making residents think twice about stepping out of their homes at night.

2) There Is No Social Infrastructure Either

If you move in here, get used to having to travel outside the region to access social infrastructure. There are only a few schools in the region and hospitals and dispensaries are absent – forcing locals to travel to Noida or Ghaziabad in case of an emergency. Shopping malls and arcades are luxuries, and only a few developers have them in their township.

3) Commuting Will Be A Problem

Forget about travelling around in the metro once you get here. The nearest station is at Noida City Centre and is 7 kilometers away. Making matters worse, there are no bus or tax networks servicing the area making commuting a big problem for anyone who doesn’t have their own vehicle.

4) You Have To Worry About Security

The lack of sufficient police stations and personnel has been a serious concern for residents living in Greater Noida West. There are only 68 police officials deployed at the Bisrakh police station and they have to deal with policing a 75,000-strong population. It is hardly surprising that crime in the area is on the rise.

5) Dust Pollution Is A Concern

There are over 200 projects under construction in the region. Dust and debris are not being properly disposed of, leading to a sharp rise in dust pollution over the past 2 years. Residents often complain about breathing problems and other health issues from living here.
