Kavita Narayan, BSP
We mistaking the NoVip Culture; To me the No VIP culture starts from standing in a line to buy a ticket or at a restaurant take away place or waiting for the signal to turn green and more importantly, following the vehicle ahead and not cutting in.
Let us begin this moment, start standing behind the vehicle, especially if you ride a two wheeler; most of our traffic congestion is due to a lot of people not following this basic tenant of equality. Respecting the guy who showed up before you and waiting for him to have the service before you – This is the heart of NoVIP culture. The red lights are an extension of this.
How many of us are ready to pledge for this
Can NDTV also do a surprise check and see the politicians who have signed the pledge are actually following it or not.
Ask any security specialist in the world that discretion is the key to security, unfortunately in India it not about security so much as to satisfy there false ego and pride. Add to this the economic cost in terms of man hours lost in traffic snarls and the money that is spent from public coffers for providing security. If England’s Prime Minister (David Cameroon) can take the tube and World’s most powerful man The President of the United States (Barak Obama)can stand in a cue at a local M’c Donald’s to buy his own ham burger, Then what is the problem with our officials and politicians?
