Amarjit

Amarinder Singh,
Founder & CEO, Clove Dental

A serial entrepreneur and seasoned executive with over twenty years of senior management and entrepreneurial experience in healthcare and software, Amar is passionate about creating successful products/companies in a dynamic eco-system. He currently heads Clove Dental, a rapidly expanding network of state-of-the-art dental clinics in Delhi NCR and the Chandigarh Tri-city Area.

Founded in 2011, the network reflects a mission to identify and address oral healthcare needs in India by providing high-quality dentistry infrastructure for the Indian consumer.

A change agent with a proven record of building products ahead of the competition curve and reenergizing the lifecycle of existing products, Amar served global software concern SAP as Senior Vice President, Global, where he managed a team of over 500 professionals. While at SAP, Amar led and built SAP’s RFID business into one of its fastest growing business units.

During his career as an entrepreneur, Amar has incubated successful companies across geographies. He created a niche for himself in the cloud computing space by building Amitive, now a leading (and patented) software application development platform.

In late 2010, GXS Solutions, a provider of monitoring, reporting and management solutions, acquired Amitive’s platform and migrated its application portfolio onto Amitive’s platform.

Additionally, Amar co-founded Simplexis, a leading public sector procurement technology company in 2002. Simplexis delivered comprehensive eProcurement services to school districts and their suppliers nationwide throughout the U.S.

Amarinder holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a master’s degree in System Design (Gold Medalist) from Waterloo, Canada and a formal degree in mechanical engineering. He enjoys traveling, golf, tennis and spending time with family.

Audrey

Audrey Selian
Director, Artha Initiative

Audrey Selian currently serves as Director of the Artha Initiative associated with Rianta Capital Zurich. She has been active in the impact investing sector since 2006 on behalf of the Singh Family, and is founder of Artha Networks Inc., which is an online impact investment due diligence platform designed to tackle the transaction costs of diligence around high impact, small scale SMEs/SGBs.

She is also an advisor to the Halloran Philanthropies, and has a particular interest in high impact social businesses. Audrey has focused on building an investment portfolio in India since 2006-2007, while helping find ways to galvanize like-minded ‘impact’ investors.

Her background is in management consulting from PricewaterhouseCoopers, consulting and research at the International Telecommunication Union at the UN, and her entrepreneurial experience includes several years spent in business development, marketing and sales at an NSF-funded software start-up called Wireless Grids Corporation.

She currently serves as a trustee for several non-profit organizations, sits on the board of a few for-profits and foundations. She holds a PhD in Technology Policy & Development Studies from The Fletcher School at Tufts University.

In 2003-2004 she was a doctoral fellow at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. She also holds degrees from The London School of Economics and Wellesley College. She lives in Switzerland with her husband and two young children.

Jayesh

Jayesh Parekh
Angel Impact Investor

Managing Partner, Jungle Ventures

Jayesh Parekh is a Managing Partner at Jungle Ventures – a Pan-Asian Venture Capital fund. He was one of the founders of Sony Entertainment Television, a major television network of Sony Pictures Entertainment. He is a board member of Sanctum Wealth Management, One Animation (animation & special effects), Picdot (Flickbay: Bollywood App) and Milaap (crowd-sourced lending platform).

Jayesh is an active impact investor in his personal capacity, and has investments in various Venture Capital funds in Silicon Valley and start-up enterprises across the broad technology and digital media space. He spent over 12 years at IBM in various technical and sales positions based in Houston and Singapore, and part of the team that brought IBM back to India.

Jayesh is on the Board and the Investment Committee of Aavishkaar India II Fund, which is a social impact fund. Jayesh has served on the Board of United Way International for 6 years, and he was on the Board of SONG, a fund owned by Soros, Omidyar Network and Google, which invests in SMEs in India that meet social objectives.

Jayesh holds a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in India and a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He is an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at INSEAD, a member of TiE Angels, and Indian Angel Network. Jayesh is a Singapore citizen and lives with his family in Singapore.

Kartik

Kartik Desai
Principal, Asha Impact

Kartik is Principal at Asha Impact, an impact investment and policy advocacy organization founded by Vikram Gandhi that enables business leaders to combine their capital, networks and expertise to address development challenges in India. In the last two years, he has led equity investments into eight social enterprises in sectors including financial inclusion, affordable housing, energy access and affordable education.

He also manages the not-profit activities of the Asha Impact trust, providing venture philanthropy to build the social impact ecosystem and targeted policy advocacy initiatives with the government.

Kartik has over a decade of experience in venture capital, social entrepreneurship, investment banking and international development.

He has been an investment manager at two of the largest impact funds in India, Lok Capital and Aavishkaar, and is the founder of What’s up Bharat, a platform for young Indians to engage on social and political issues using data analytics.

He began his career working as an associate with Merrill Lynch in the India investment banking team and has worked on multiple IPO, M&A and private equity transactions across sectors. He has also done a variety of consulting assignments for organisations including the BTS Group, the United Nations Development Program and the Rockefeller Foundation.

Kartik graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University with a Master in International Affairs. He is based out of New Delhi.

Radha Kapoor
Founder & Director, Indian School of Design and Innovation
Founder, Doit Creations

Radha Kapoor is the founder and director of the Indian School of Design and Innovation (ISDI). Located in Mumbai, ISDI was established in 2013 in association with her alma mater, Parsons, The New School of Design, New York.

ISDI benefits from Parsons’ rigorous curriculum, its prominent visiting faculty, well established student exchanges and global relationships. Ms. Kapoor is a young and dynamic creative entrepreneur with diverse interests driven by her creative passions.

She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in Communication Design. In 2009, she launched Doit Creations as a holding umbrella company to conceptualize and promote new creative and innovative concepts.

To unleash her creative skills, Ms. Kapoor formed Brand Canvas – an innovative way of bringing art into the workplace.

Brand Canvas uses innovative techniques to understand the brand ethos of an organization, which it then translates into designs that have an appropriate look, tone of voice and psychology for the workplace.

Doit Creations also recently acquired a 40% stake in ‘Business World’, resulting in Ms. Kapoor’s joining the magazine’s board. She is on the YNG Board (YPO Next Generation) as Education Chair. Of her more recent and diverse interests, Ms. Kapoor has taken a stake in the Pro Kabaddi League, as owner of the Delhi franchise. Previously she also backed the market entry of Spanish premium dry cleaning chain Press to into India as an angel investor.
