This Country Isn’t Aware About Organ Donation: Irrfan Khan

Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan, the campaign ambassador for NDTV- Fortis More To Give, has been vocal about his opinions regarding organ donation.

“There is possibility and there are challenges,” the actor said regarding the campaign.


Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda, who starred in movies like Sarabjit and Highway, recently pledged his organs at the 7th Organ Donation Day event organised by the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO).

While his twitter posts in support of the campaign attracted views and comments from his fans and the twitter community alike, it’s not the first time that celebrities have come forward to take the pledge.

Priyanka Chopra Voices Her Opinions On Organ Donation

Priyanka Chopra has been a dedicated activist in the domain of organ donation. At a keynote address at the University of Rochester Medical Centre (URMC), she spoke about the impact of personal experiences on understanding the importance of organ donation. She referred to her father’s resilience in her statement.

“The strength and resilience that he has shown through his illness shows me how every moment is important and how valuable it to donate an organ. You all are here since you understand the cause, however, in my other talks I put it to people that it is a very personal experience.”

Saving A Life Is Worth Saving Entire Humanity: Actor Iqbal Khan

Indian television actor Iqbal Khan came out to endorse the campaign and denounced leaders who use religion as a pretext in the case of organ donation. “There’s a very famous line from the Quran which says you save a life and you save the entire humanity,” he told NDTV in an interview.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan joined Amitabh Bachchan, Zakir Hussain and other celebrities to promote eye donation for the Eye Bank Association of India. In this campaign ad, the actress pledged her eyes and reiterated her commitment to the organ donation campaign.

Aamir Is Definitely Keen To Donate His Organs: Kiran Rao

Aamir Khan’s filmmaker wife Kiran Rao revealed to reporters at an organ donation camp that her husband was keen to donate his organs after watching the film, Ship Of Theseus.

“If anyone has seen the film, I hope they will definitely be convinced that it’s the most beautiful and most logical thing to do,” she said.

Celebrities including Nandita Das, Sonakshi Sinha and others have followed suit and joined the campaign.

Every year, approximately five lakh patients lose their lives due to unavailability of organs. The organ donation rate in India currently stands at 0.5 donors per 10 lakh people.
