Shri Tejram Ji was the Chairperson of Sir Ganga Ram Trust Society. He was the grandson of great philanthropist late Sir Ganga Ram, and was associated with Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for 27 years until his death in 2012.

He was a lively man and fun-loving right till the end. Even when he was admitted to the hospital, he would go out for dinner, come back and get himself re-admitted!

He passed away at the age of 88 on September 3, 2012, and his daughter Mrs. Vinita Chopra was asked by the doctors in the hospital if she would be interested in donating his organs. She consulted her family and then decided to donate his organs.

She felt that it was his body, his organs and she felt that she had no right to say no to it. She says “When I came back home that night, I felt so good. There was an atmosphere of hope and life.” Shri Tejram Ji’s organs were donated to save the lives of three people.

He has become one of the oldest organ donors in the country busting the common misconception that there is a limit to the age of donors.

His daughter speaks about her father, the zest he had for life, and why she made the decision to donate his organs.
